Travis

Hello Blog readers,

I just got back from seeing Travis at the Centre for Performing Arts. What a great venue to see a show. i took a few pics with my camera phone...not the greatest phone but there are some cool shots in there...

A few highlites from the show:

- the came onto the show to the them song from rocky, dressed in boxing robes
- fran, the lead singer played a song unplugged with just his voice. by this i mean he de-amped his guitar and sang without a mic
- they were full on energy and banter
- the guitarist andy went into the crowd during one song to play his solo
- a guy started to yell out about how the band gave free tickets to this old japanese couple. turned out that they were old friends of fran's mom. the ladies name was dot and he asked if they liked the show. the cute couple seemed slightly embarrassed
- they did a cover of the weight by the band
- sing and why does it always rain on me and writing to reach you were very strong songs
- thats all i can think of right now...

Sia in Vancouver

Well...since I didnt get called again, i might as well write something down on the good ol'blog.

last night i went to see Sia play at the media club with alli, adam, ian and tom. both adam and tom had never heard of sia and didnt know what to expect. i think that they both left the show wondering how such a big voice can come out of that tiny girl ( toms own words).

As for the show it was amazing, allison and i ran into sia and her bud david as we were going into the show and she signed a poster for us. and then later on before the song destiny, she gave up props. it was quite fun...

she played old stuff but mostly new stuff...please go out and buy her stuff...its worth it...she is one of my fav singers all time...

set list...

buttons
little black sandals
lentil
day to soon
the co-dependant
sunday
destiny
breathe me
the girl you lost to cocaine
you have been loved

it was 1996 again

On tuesday night, Al and I went to see Chris Cornell at the Centre. Holy shit it was amazing. We were row 3 and it was out of control. he played temple of the dog, soundgarden, solo and audioslave stuff and him and his band killed it. if i am never able to see the real soundgarden, this was a close second. he was so intense and into the show. he even came into the crowd to sing hunger strike...so good...so good...it was almost like 1997 again! n

Sia is coming to Vancouver

I am so happy because I just bought myself tickets to see an amazing singer named Sia. She sings in a band called Zero 7 and she also has some amazing solo stuff. Her last tour, she didnt come to Vancouver because there wasnt enough label support to play in Canada. But i guess that things are different this time around and I am so glad. I did manage to see her on the tour before that. I met her after the show and had my picture taken with her. I also have seen her twice with Zero 7. Please come out and see her. It will be a good time! Here is a new song from her upcoming album...

A long Weekend

This past weekend, I had a family excursion down to Seattle and back with my family. We dont get out as a unit now that much, so it was nice to head someone. We definetly like to shop and eat and complain, I didnt expect much else.

I started a new job of sorts. I have a month long position at a high school in vancouver. It had been interesting to see how other school work and manage their stuff. It has been going well so far but its only monday!

For the long weekend we went to Canmore for Justin and Jill's wedding. It was done very well. They planned everything perfectly and it was awesome. Tom, Anna, Allison and I drove out to Canmore from Vancouver. It was a great drive. We stayed in Revolstoke and visited the town of Field. It was a cute little stop.

Some hilites of the weekend;
- going on the hike
- the wedding
-being in the wedding party
- watching the japanese guys golfing with the whole wedding watching
- i am too tired to write anything else!

here is a good pic of the couple

1 2 3 4 and a red moon

Okay, here is a video of one of my fav artist right now and a lot of other people love her too...this is feist performance from letterman last night. she is backed up by members of broken social scene, the new pornographers, grizzly bear, mates of state(?)...please watch and enjoy

also last night was the red moon. we went to bed and then set the alarm for 3:10 am, got up and went to the alley and watched it get redder and redder. it was something to see...and it gave the sky a reddish hue... hopefully my pics do it some justice!
